Speaker: Kyle Smith

Kyle Smith is a Commercial Portfolio Manager at North State Bank, a relationship focused community bank headquartered in Raleigh, NC. Kyle’s current role focuses on providing unique lending solutions to clients in a variety of different industries including operating companies and commercial real estate. For years, Kyle has actively managed sizeable loan portfolios, analyzing hundreds of credit opportunities, allowing him to gain valuable insight on what it takes to help a business succeed. He believes strongly in personally investing in his clients, spending extra time analyzing prospective deals and answering any questions that they might have.
Kyle is a frequent speaker at local business associations and networking events including the North Carolina Chinese Business Association. Kyle holds a Bachelors of Arts in Economics from University of North Carolina at Asheville.

Speaker: Joseph W. Zhou
Joseph Zhou, Chief Executive Officer of Community College Student Insurance Services Inc. Joseph’s responsibilities include marketing and strategic alliance development. Joseph has 20 years institutional investment banking experience with Laurentian Bank Canada, Merrill Lynch, Open Asset Management in Canada and the USA. Recently he and his partner Gregg Sinders successfully granted 7 new charter school application, provided land acquisition, management services more than dozen charter schools.
Joseph is an active member of his community, where he serves as Founding Member of the United Minority Contractors of North Carolina, a former Board of Director with the American Red Cross, former Vice-Principal and Director of the Cary Chinese School, former Board of Director of RTP Chapter of NAAAP (National Association of Asian American Professionals), and proud alumni of Leadership North Carolina, member of Carolinas Chinese Chamber of Commerce and North Carolina Chinese Business Association.
Joseph earned a Bachelor of Civic Engineering from school in Beijing, China, then Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in Economics from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and a CIT in Maritime Shipping Management Law from the Pacific Marine Training Institute. He also has a Minority Executive Management Training Certification from the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University, and a Certification in Project Management from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
