NCCBA is honored to have one of the region's most exceptional entrepreneurs,
Stephen Wiehe, as our featured guest speaker on Tuesday, June 16. Steve is
President and CEO of SciQuest, a market leader in helping healthcare, life
sciences, education, and government organizations automate procurement practices
via a SaaS solution suite that results in significant savings for the company’s
clients.
While SciQuest is clearly one of Research Triangle's biggest technology success
stories, Steve's talk on the 16th will focus on leadership and the lessons
he’s learned throughout his career. Often Chinese in business are coached
to work on their soft skills. Steve’s talk will shed light on how best
to do that.
Hear the inside story of what it took to transform an e-commerce company,
whose publicly traded shares had fallen dramatically in the burst of the dot-com
bubble, into a successful solution provider by refocusing its business strategy
and leading the company through an amazing turnaround and privatization, with
backing by venture funds from Intersouth Partners, River Cities Capital Funds
and Trinity Partners.
Steve came to SciQuest with 20 years of experience as a technology entrepreneur
and a strong background in finance. Early in his career, he graduated with
honors from General Electric's renowned Financial Management Program and then
rose to Treasurer of GE Plastics. Just prior to taking the position at SciQuest,
Steve served as senior director, strategic investments & mergers and acquisitions
at SAS Institute, which he joined in June 2000 after SAS acquired DataFlux
Corporation, where he served as president and CEO.
In turning SciQuest around and making the company a market leader, Steve has
demonstrated his passion for bringing the best out in people and creating a
culture of excellence. On the 16th, we will learn about the "Principles
We Manage By" that exemplify Steve's leadership style and created the
culture that has resulted in SciQuest's winning local and national awards ranging
from Triangle Business Journal's "Best Places to Work", American
Business Awards' "Turnaround of the Year" to NCTA's "Software
Company of the Year" and "Technology Executive of the Year".
